Mark Schafer is a German-born photographer based in New York, whose work is highly acclaimed in the media, arts, and entertainment industries. With a portfolio that features portraits of some of the world's top celebrities and cultural icons, his work has been published in numerous international publications, including Vanity Fair, GQ, People, The Hollywood Reporter, and Die Zeit, among others.
Mark is known for his expertise creating beautifully-lit studio portraits, as well as for his photojournalistic approach on the sets of many award-winning film and television productions across the U.S. and abroad. He has worked with major clients such as HBO, Paramount, Showtime, Disney and other leading studios to document their productions and create imagery that is used in key art, marketing and press materials worldwide.
Mark honed his craft by working as a first assistant to renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz, as well as other top photographers in the U.S., Paris, and Germany. He is fluent in English, German, and French, and has worked extensively in both the U.S. and Europe.
Mark is a member of several esteemed photography organizations, including the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP), American Photographic Artists (APA), and the International Cinematographer's Guild (ICG 600).
